C. Cookies and Clear Gifs
We employ a combination of third party cookies and a software technology called clear gifs (a.k.a. Web Beacons/Web Bugs), that help us better manage content on our site by informing us what content is effective." A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's hard drive containing non-personal information about the user. Cookies enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance their experience on our web site. We are able to access only the cookies that our web site sets on your computer to a) determine the type of computer, operating system, and browser that you are using; b) the date of your entry to our web site and the date of the cookie's expiry; and c) the URL of the text link or advertisement you clicked with your mouse to enter our web site.
Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track the online movements of Web users. In contrast to cookies, which are stored on a user's computer hard drive, clear gifs are embedded invisibly on Web pages and are about the size of the period at the end of this sentence. Clear gifs are used by our third party advertising partners and analytic services to help us determine referring web sites, the progress of our campaigns across a variety of demographics, and sales volume. They are also used by our third party site security services to ensure the security of our site from hacker crime.
We collect information from cookies and clear gifs in the aggregate. We do not link the non-personal information collected through cookies and clear gifs with our customers' personally identifiable information.
Users can set their browsers or third party software to reject cookies. If a user rejects the cookie, the user may be unable to use portions of our web site.
