Murata Technical Specifications

Murata Technical Data and Product Info

Historically, mercury has been used in button batteries to reduce hydrogen gas generated inside the battery because the elimination of mercury was considered technically impossible. Murata undertook the challenge of designing mercury-free silver oxide batteries to contribute to the protection of the environment and consumers. Murata successfully introduced the world's first mercury-free silver oxide batteries in 2004 and went on to develop a mercury-free alkaline manganese button battery in 2009. In 1977, Murata started its production of button batteries. We have achieved a cumulative production total of over 10 billion units during the period 1977 to 2017. Murata continues to focus our R&D efforts towards developing battery solutions which protect the environment while exceeding customer expectations for reliability and performance. Murata's button batteries have superior anti-leakage performance thanks to its unique sealing material and technology. Our patented "J-shaped gasket" was invented as a unique sealing solution to maintain air pressure inside the battery. Optimization of the gasket shape results in the reduction of leakage risks during long-term storage.

Superior storage characteristics

Features extremely low self-discharging through the careful selection of stable materials for the active material and electrolytic solution and our custom sealing technology. The amount of self-discharge at room temperature and normal humidity is less than 1% of the nominal capacity per year.dv
Superior leakage resistance
Demonstrates superior leakage resistance over the long-term through the adoption of our custom battery structure and electrolytic solution. UL-certified components. Murata's coin-type manganese dioxide lithium batteries are UL-certified components. (UL1642 File No. MH12566)
