Technical Specifications: Toshiba Zinc Air Batteries For Hearing Aids

Toshiba premium zinc air button cell batteries have exceedingly high capacities, high operating voltages and they offer very flat & stable discharge characteristics. They are used primarily in hearing aid applications, but have found application use in other portable electronics. Toshiba zinc air batteries are excellent replacements for Rayovac (Extra, Loud 'N Clear, Proline), Energizer (Amplifier. EZChange), Duracell (Activair), Panasonic, Renata, & Varta (PowerOne) brands.

Composition:

Zinc Air batteries have 2 to 3 times the energy capacity of previous generation mercury batteries, because the bulk of the internal volume of the cell is dedicated to the negative active material (zinc). The positive active material is air and enters the battery through small holes on the cathode side of the cell.

Design Improvements:

Models 312, 675, 675HP, 13, 13HP and 10, have recently been improved. The zinc content of the negative electrode has been increased, and now offers up to 25% more capacity and duration than previous versions. Improvements include a newly developed internal contact layer film material, which minimizes self-discharge during storage.

High Power Versions:

Toshiba high power models 675HP (PR44P) and 13HP (PR48P) are specifically designed for applications requiring higher discharge rates. These hearing aid types include cochlear implants, BTE Speech Processors and digital units. Other manufacturers market hybrid "one type fits all" cells, which often fail to meet the performance requirements of high power hearing aids. For optimal hearing performance and battery duration, consult your hearing care professional for the battery type best suited for you.

Product Usage:

Do not remove the protective tab from the battery until ready to use. Removing the tab allows air to enter the holes in the cathode side of the cell and activates the battery. Please wait up to one minute to allow for full activation of the cell.
